Zero Tolerance Tactical Pen 0010BLK Review:
The Gerber Impromptu Tactical Pen is a great looking pen with a unique design. It features a retractable stainless steel clip, which allows it to be attached to your belt or pants pocket. The cap is made from hard plastic and features two large holes for screwing on the cap and removing it from the pen. The barrel is made from high quality stainless steel and measures approximately 1 3/4″ long.
The body of the pen is black anodized aluminum with a silver finish. There are three side panels that can be removed to reveal additional storage space inside the pen.
The front panel contains a small button, which when pressed activates the mechanism that opens up the clip, allowing you to remove it from your pocket or bag without having to take out your hand. The mechanism is secured to the front of the pen by four screws. The rear panel contains a spring loaded catch, which holds the clip in place while you’re writing. When you want to put away your pen, simply push down on the catch and pull out your clip.
You’ll need to replace your clip every few months since they lose their strength over time.
The tip of the pen can be used to sign credit cards and other paperwork without leaving a raised signature. It comes with a black nylon case that has a belt loop on one side and a clip on the other, allowing it to be securely attached to your clothing. The case also contains two spare ink cartridges, which easily slide in and out of the cartridge housing inside the barrel of the pen.
You can easily carry the Gerber Impromptu Tactical Pen in your pocket or pen loop, attached to your notebook, clipped inside your shirt pocket, or in its hardshell case. Never be unarmed or caught without a writing utensil again!
When purchasing the ZT Pen you can choose between a click or twist action. With the click action you have much more control over the speed of the mechanism and can easily stop it at any time. The twist action is great for people who are always on the go and do not want to deal with precision.
Another popular pen with a click action is the Smith & Wesson Tactical Pen. Many police officers prefer this model due to its simplicity and ruggedness. The Smith & Wesson Tactical Pen is available in multiple colors, has grooved finger grips, and seats into its own knurled aluminum cap for protection from the elements. It also contains a replaceable ballpoint cartridge and a strong clip that can be attached to a pocket or belt.
While the Zero Tolerance Tactical Pen is not available with a click action, it does have some benefits over the Smith & Wesson. It has a faster, easier push button mechanism, includes a glass breaker tip, and is much less expensive.
