Stihl Batteries are the Best!
The world’s best battery manufacturer is Stihl. They have been producing high quality batteries since 1892. Their name is well known worldwide because they manufacture all kinds of products such as lights, radios, cameras, appliances, toys and much more. Stihl Batteries are the most popular brand among electricians and DIYers around the globe.
Stihl Batteries are used in everything from small LED light bulbs to large power tools.
Stihl Batteries are manufactured using the same technology as their other products. They use nickel cadmium (NiCd) batteries which provide long life and high energy density. These batteries offer a good balance between cost and performance. NiCd batteries have a higher energy capacity than lead acid or lithium ion batteries but at lower costs compared to those two types of batteries.

Lead Acid Batteries – Lead is one of the oldest rechargeable batteries available today. Lead-acid batteries have been around for over 100 years and continue to be widely used in many applications. While they may not be as durable as NiCd or LiPo batteries, they do last longer due to their ability to store more charge before needing recharging. This type of battery needs to be refilled more often than others but they are less expensive for this reason.
Lithium-Ion Batteries – These batteries use an electro-chemistry process that uses lithium ions while being charged and discharged. These batteries are smaller in size than other types of rechargeable batteries. They also do not have any “memory effect” like lead acid batteries, so you can recharge them without any loss of capacity over time. However, they do cost more to refill than other types of rechargeable batteries.
Nickel Cadmium Batteries – These batteries are very similar to the NiCd batteries listed above with the only exception being these ones contain a little bit of cadmium. These batteries work very well for many types of devices and they can also be used to power up larger ones. These batteries can also be recycled without any major issues.
Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries – These batteries are similar to the NiCd type of battery listed above except this uses hydrogen instead of cadmium. This is one of the newer types of rechargeable batteries, and they have a higher capacity than older types like lead acid or NiCd batteries.
Stihl Battery Review
The Stihl brand offers a few different types of battery technology for their power tools. We will be looking at each type to see what they can offer you as an individual.
One of the more popular batteries that are used in Stihl’s line of products are the NiCD batteries. These are the smallest size available, and they come in either a 1.3-volt or 1.5-volt format.
These are typically used in smaller power tools such as drills, saws, sanders and more.
These batteries are not interchangeable with other types. You cannot use a Nicad battery in a Stihl drill for example. This is because each battery type is specifically designed for whatever tool it’s going to be used with.
One of the benefits of using Nicad batteries is that they are cheaper to manufacture than other types. This lowers the price of the tool itself while maintaining high performance from the battery. Another great thing about Nicad batteries is that they do not have a “memory effect”. This means that you can recharge them without any loss of capacity over time.
While they are cheap to manufacture and use, there are some downsides. The main issue with Nicad batteries is that they contain toxic materials such as cadmium, which is very hard on the environment. Also, due to their chemical make-up they are more likely to explode or release toxic fumes if exposed to heat or flame.
The next type of Stihl battery is the NiMH battery. These are similar to Nicad batteries in terms of size and performance. The main difference is that they do not contain toxic materials inside of them, so they are more environmentally friendly. The trade off is that they do have a “memory effect” that causes a loss of capacity after each charge.
The last type of Stihl battery is the Li-Ion battery. This type of battery is growing in popularity due to its high performance and low price to manufacture. These batteries can come in different sizes, with the most common being the 1.5-volt format.
These are great for power tools that require a lot of juice such as drills and routers.
These batteries can also be recharged without a loss of capacity, but they do not have a “memory effect” like Nicad batteries do. One downside is that these batteries contain lithium, which is highly flammable. Manufacturers combat this issue by putting in safety circuits to prevent serious accidents.
Another type of battery is the Lithium-Ion which is becoming more and more popular among power tool manufacturers. The main advantage of this battery is that it has a longer life span and can hold a charge for much, much longer when not in use. For example, a laptop battery might hold a charge for only a day or two when not in use, but with the newer Lithium-Ion batteries the charge can last for months or even years!
The main downside is that this battery is much more expensive to make, and if the battery is damaged or misused there is a possibility of it exploding. This can be seen with the recent recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
Before you buy a Stihl battery, it is important to know what type of battery the tool requires. If you do not know this information, you can contact Stihl directly and ask them which battery to use with your particular model. This information should be listed in your user’s manual.
