Ryobi RP4020 Review
The Ryobi RP4020 digital multimeter is one of the most popular brands among home users. They are manufactured by Ryobi Technology Corporation (RT) based in Taiwan.
These meters have been sold since 2002 and they are widely used in many countries around the world. The RT company was founded in 1989 and it started out with a small business selling vacuum cleaners. Since then, the company has expanded into various industries such as electronics, appliances, medical equipment and other products. The RT brand name is well known worldwide due to its high quality and reliability.
What makes the Ryobi RP4020 so popular?
First of all, it is a very affordable meter. Its price ranges from $49 to $199 depending on where you buy it. Second, the RP4020 is easy to use. You just need to plug it in and start measuring your electrical current or voltage readings. Third, the meter comes with a user’s guide which helps you learn how to operate the device. Last but not least, the meter is very durable. It is made from a high impact plastic and it can survive drops from up to 3 feet high.
The Ryobi RP4020 has a fairly simple design. On the left side of the meter, you will find a display screen.
This screen displays your electrical readings and 5 buttons that allow you to cycle through different menus. The top button allows you to turn the device on and off. The next button turns the backlight on and off. The third button allows you to switch between voltage and current readings. The fourth button allows you to switch between resistance (ohms), capacitance (farads) and diode testing. The last button is used for setting up or deleting measurements and readings in your device’s memory.
The right side of the meter is where you will find all of the function buttons. These include the On/Off button, an Alarm button, a Hold button, a Min/Max button, a Normal/Continuous button and a Zero Button.
Other than the On/Off button, all of the other buttons are used for different measurements. The On/Off button is quite self-explanatory: it turns the meter on and off. The Alarm button will sound an alarm when a certain condition is met (e.g. current is above a certain number). The Hold button will temporarily store the value displayed on the screen. The Min/Max button will find the minimum or maximum value measured since the last reset. The Normal/Continuous button is used for different measuring modes. Finally, the Zero button resets the meter to zero.
What can this multimeter measure?
It can measure AC/DC Voltage (Up to 600V), Current (Up to 10A), Resistance (Up to 20 Mohms), Capacitance (Up to 200nF), Frequency (Up to 100 KHz), and it has a built in thermometer. The multimeter uses SANYO batteries. It also comes with a holster, a pair of rubber gloves and a manual.
