The thing that surprised me the most is how well it works. I was expecting it to feel pretty clunky in my hands when I first started using it but was happily mistaken. It fits comfortably in my hands, even when putting a good amount of pressure on the tool.
It is well balanced and it feels like it is an extension of my arm. Another big surprise is the power that this machine puts out for being only 18 volts. When I used it on some metal, it went through like butter. It also makes fairly quick work when using on wood. You can also use it in either forward or reverse which is a nice feature.
The only thing that I have a problem with is changing bits. Because of the grip that you need to have on the tool and the location of the release button for changing bits, my big fat hands have a hard time reaching it and pressing it. Sometimes I need an assistant to do it for me.
It’s not a deal breaker for me though because this tool is amazing and I’m willing to overlook that small issue.
I’m really glad that I bought this tool. I didn’t think I needed another power tool but this one is so much fun to use that I don’t mind having it around the house.
The only thing that I might change on this tool would be to make the release button easier to access when changing bits because my grip is a little too big. Other than that this tool is perfect for me. I highly recommend this $100 tool to anyone that wants a quality rotary hammer at a reasonable price.
Where Can I Find the Best Deals?
The best deal on this tool that I have found is on eBay. A new one in the box is going for around $140.00 and if you search around, you can find a used one for around $100.00. Even at $140.00 it’s worth it to me because of how well it works and the joy I get out of using it. If you are on a budget though, like I was, then buying used is the way to go. If you can’t find a used one at a reasonable price, you might want to consider building your own because if you shop around you can probably get all the parts cheaper than you can buy the tool new.
