Power Tool Packaging – Cases, Bags and Pouches
The power tool packaging is used to protect and transport equipment, parts or finished products. They are commonly made from metal, plastic or wood.
Case: A case is a container usually made of hard material such as plastic or wood. Some cases have handles, while others do not. Most cases are designed to hold one item at a time; however they may be used to carry multiple items if necessary.
Bag: A bag is a box-like container typically made of plastic or wood. Many bags are designed to hold several items at once, but some bags are designed only for certain types of materials (e.g., automotive).
Pouch: A pouch is a flat rectangular container usually made of plastic or wood. Some pouches are designed to hold several items at once, but other pouches are designed only for certain types of materials (e.g., automotive).
Tool Bag: A tool bag is a large, padded case with handles that holds various tools and accessories. These bags often come in different sizes and shapes, depending on what type of tools you need to use. A cloth cover is sometimes used to keep the contents of the bag from falling out.
Tote: A tote is a large container with handles that is designed to hold larger items than a tool pouch.
It’s always important to ensure the material that is being transported won’t get damaged during transit. The material should also be packaged in a way that won’t allow for movement within the packaging. This will keep the product from becoming damaged during transit.
A metal tool chest is a large box with multiple compartments for holding tools and other items, usually made of sheet metal. They are most often used by people who perform maintenance or repairs on vehicles, heavy equipment or machinery. The box is usually mounted on rollers so it can be easily moved around.
The box itself is sometimes mounted on wheels so that it can be easily rolled around. The box is usually mounted on casters so that it can be easily rolled from place to place.
A tool belt is a container that is worn by a person while working. It is designed to hold many of the tools that are required during the job. The tool belt is strapped to the waist and includes loops for holding various items such as screw drivers and wrenches, etc.
These belts are typically worn by people who perform maintenance or repairs on various equipment.
A toolbox is a container that is used for storing tools while not in use. These are usually put away in a workshop to keep the tools from getting lost or stolen. They are usually made of metal, but some are made of plastic.
A person usually has one or more toolboxes to hold all of their tools. These containers are usually put away in a larger container, such as a trailer, truck or even a car.
Plastic, Paper, and Wooden Packaging
Most plastic packaging is made of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), which is a type of plastic with lots of molecules. It is easy to form into different shapes while being durable. It is also usually brightly colored; this makes it easier to find if you drop it on the ground.
A paper label is glued to the container for decoration or to provide information about the contents. It is usually brightly colored or has a picture to make it more appealing to customers.
Paper is often used for packaging that contains liquids such as oils and vinegars. This is because the liquid can’t seep through the paper. For solid items, plastic is usually used because it cannot be crushed as easily by pressure.
A wooden box is a natural container that is usually made from wood (duh). Wood is often used to make musical instruments and firearms.
Safety Cartons are designed to hold breakable items during shipping or storing. They have a thick layer of bracing plastic on the sides to protect whatever is inside from being crushed.
When packing glass, ceramic, or pottery items, use plenty of cushioning material, such as foam peanuts. These materials are very light but can take a heavy impact. Be sure to label the box “FRAGILE” in big bold letters.
Also, for larger, more expensive items, you may want to use a wooden crate; these provide even more protection and can be reused for storage purposes.
Make sure you properly seal metal lids on glass jars. If a lid isn’t secure enough, it may come off at some point during transit. If this happens, the contents of the jar can spill out, break, and cause a huge mess.
