Porter Cable PC15TCSMK 15A Circular Saw Review: What’s In A Name?

The name “PC” stands for Porter Cable, which means it was created by a man named William Pendergast. When William Pendergast invented the first telephone line in 1876, he called it the “William Pendergast Telephone Company.” So when he invented the first computer in 1973, he called it the “Computer Corporation of America”. And when he invented the first digital television system in 1977, he called it the “Digital Video Corporation of America”. These are all names of companies that were created by men named William Pendergast.

So what does it mean if someone calls their product a “circular saw”?

Well, it just means they’re using a round object to cut something else. If you look at the word “saw”, there’s another letter that comes with it. You see, the letters “S” and “C” stand for scissors and a blade. So when you say “pulley saw,” you’re actually saying that your device uses pulleys to move around.

But why do we call our devices like this?

Because we’ve been doing so since the beginning of time! The word “circular” comes from the Latin word circulus meaning circle or ring. The word “saw” comes from the Latin word “serra” meaning a saw.

The first thing that we called a circular saw was an Archimedes Circular Saws. It was used by a man named Archimedes in 225 B.C.!

The Latin word serra means both saw and the tooth of a saw. Yes, folks! We’ve been using circular objects to cut things since the Dark and Middle Ages, which were between A.D. 500 and 1500! How does a circular saw work? A circular saw has two parts: the engine and the blade. The engine is like the heart of your machine. If your engine fails, then you won’t be able to cut anything, and you’ll be useless. Meanwhile, the blade is like your teeth. If your blade is dull, then you won’t be able to cut anything, and you’ll be useless. At least that’s how it works with a human.

On a circular saw, an engine makes the blade spin around and around. As the blade spins around and around, it cuts through wood, metal, plastic, stone, glass, and anything else that you need to cut through. Meanwhile, a human turns the machine on and off with their hands.

Sometimes they turn a knob to change the speed of the blade.

The human then guides the blade along what they want to cut. They also tilt the machine up and down, so that the blade may cut through what they want to cut. Meanwhile, there are two handles on both sides of the machine, so that two hands can turn the saw.

Meanwhile, there is a bar in the middle of all this called a “rail”, which keeps the blade straight.

The first circular saws were hand-pushed. A human would put both hands on the machine, and walk with it. Meanwhile, there were no guards around the blade, no cords, no triggers to turn it on or off.

These are just some of the things that have been added over the years to make the saws safer to use.

How fast does a circular saw go?

The first circular saws could only cut through wood at a speed of about 33 centimeters per minute! That’s about as fast as someone can clap their hands! Nowadays, the speed of a circular saw can go up to 3 meters per second. That’s about as fast as a person can run!

How long have people been cutting things?

If you count the first circular saw that was ever invented in 225 B.C., then people have been cutting things for more than 2,000 years! If you count the first hand-held circular saw, then people have been cutting things for more than 300 years!

Who invented the circular saw?

There is some debate about who exactly invented the circular saw. Some people say that it was a man named Edmund Lee. Others say that it was a man named René-Antoine Ferchault de Reaumur. Still others insist that another man, Giovanni Frilli, should be given the credit.

The first person to patent the circular saw was a man named Robert Fulton. It was his idea to put a handle on it so that it could be easily moved from place to place. In 1787, he was given a patent for his invention.

At the time, people were cutting things by hand or by using a back-and-forth sawing motion. With Robert Fulton’s circular saw, wood could be cut much faster and easier than before.

By the way, a saw is not a saw is not a saw. Some saws are called axes, some are called bos, and others are called hacksaws. Also, some saws cut wood, some cut metal, and still others cut other materials, such as bone.

What is a bandsaw?

A bandsaw is similar to a circular saw, except with a bandsaw, the blade is held in place by a long metal bar. The bar and the blade move back and forth together, while a human operator turns the wheel by hand to make the bar and the blade go back and forth through the material that one wants to cut. Meanwhile, the operator guides the material to be cut by hand along the metal bar and blade.

Where have you seen a bandsaw?

You’ve probably seen a bandsaw many times. They’re used in car workshops where they cut metal, in furniture workshops where they cut wood, and in medical facilities where they cut bone for surgeons. There are even portable versions that can be carried around to different job sites.

Now you know a little more about circular saws and bandsaws!
