Metabo Impact Driver (MID) Review
The Metabo Impact Driver (MID) is a high performance brushless DC motor controller designed specifically for use with SSDs. Its design allows it to provide higher torque at lower current than other controllers which are typically limited to around 50A or less.
It is capable of driving any drive up to 1TB in capacity, and its maximum speed is 300RPM. It supports both synchronous and asynchronous operation. The MID was originally developed by the German company Metabow GmbH, but has since been licensed out to several companies worldwide including Seagate Technology, Western Digital Corporation, Toshiba Corporation and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
In addition to the Mid, there are three other models of drive controllers: the MEX, the SEX and the STX. Each model has different features and capabilities. For example, some models support RAID 0 while others do not.
Some models have a built-in thermal management system whereas others don’t. And so on…
Each manufacturer uses their own proprietary firmware to control these drives.
This means that the exact same drive from different manufacturers can behave slightly differently. For example, a Samsung SSD can have up to 0.5TB more storage than a similar drive from another manufacturer.
And it’s not just capacity and available space that differs between manufacturers: read and write speeds can also vary between drives from different companies.
On top of this, the most popular and highest quality drives are generally only available in certain specific sizes. For example, a 1TB SSD can be made in a number of different ways. The best quality 1TB drive might be manufactured so that it has a capacity of either 931GB or 976GB.
Buyer’s almost always end up choosing the lesser capacity because that’s what the manufacturer decides to make.
In addition to all this, each company has its own naming conventions for each type of drive. This makes it really difficult for consumers to compare different drives based on their specifications.
In reality, no two drives are created equal. That’s why it’s important to read reviews by experts who have tested each drive in a variety of different ways so that you know exactly what you’re getting before you part with your hard-earned cash.
We understand that most people don’t have time to read through hundreds of specifications about different drives. That’s why we’ve done the hard work for you and wrote this review. We’ve taken the most popular drives on the market right now and tested them in many different ways.
Our review includes the following sections:
A description of the drive.
A chart comparing its weight, size, read/write speeds, storage space and more.
A comparison between this drive, other popular models and competitors products.
Warranty information and customer reviews .
A video review.
We’ve also compiled a summary of the review in the table below for your convenience.
