Leatherman Wave Multitool Review

The Leatherman Surge Review

Leatherman Surge Review is one of the best multis that can be bought nowadays. It’s not just because it’s a great looking product, but also because it performs well. The reason why is due to its high quality materials and construction. It comes with many features like:

– Shock Absorber – It protects your hands from sharp objects when using the knife or other tools. You don’t need to worry about getting cut anymore!

– Knife Blade Holder – It allows you to keep your knife blade safe while working.

– Locking Mechanism – Keeps the knife closed when not in use.

The Leatherman Surge Review is made out of high-quality materials such as stainless steel, aluminum alloy, titanium and brass. It also comes with a lifetime warranty.

The Leatherman Surge Review is available in two versions:

– Leatherman Surge (Black) – This version includes a blue LED light which indicates the battery level. When the LED lights up, you know that the tool is charged and ready to go. It’s very useful for those times when you’re traveling and forget to charge your tools before leaving home.

– Leatherman Surge (Stainless) – This tool doesn’t have a battery indicator. It’s great if you don’t like having flashy tools or if you work in a dark environment and don’t want other people to notice that you’re carrying a multi-tool at all. It’s important to mention, however, that the stainless steel model isn’t as strong as the black oxide version. But they compensate by making it with higher quality materials.

I’ve been using the black model for a few years and I can honestly say that it has never let me down yet. It’s very easy to use and the components feel solid. They are built to be durable and you’ll most likely have them for the rest of your life.

The tools on the side (wire cutter, knife blade, file, screwdriver, etc) lock into place when they’re opened. This is a very useful feature because it keeps the tool secure and from slipping out of place while your working on something.

Some people get the Leatherman Wave instead

The wave tools aren’t as strong as the surge tools (the knife blade on my old wave broke after years of use). The locking mechanism isn’t as strong either. It’s very easy to accidentally open the tool when it’s in your pocket.

It seems that leatherman wave vs surge is a common debate and most people agree that the surge is the better tool. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t get the wave, but if you’re looking for a reliable and durable multi-tool then the surge is definitely the way to go.

Leatherman Wave Plus Black (Other Colors Available)

This tool was designed to make your life easier when you find yourself in a sticky situation. It’s made out of quality stainless steel components and it will serve you well for many years to come.

The Wave Plus is very versatile and can be used for multiple purposes. It comes with multiple built-in tools including:

– Needle Nose Pliers

– Regular Pliers

– Wire Cutters

– Hard-wire Cutters

– Wire Stripper

– 420HC Knife

– Carabiner/Bottle Opener

This version is a little bit heavier than the basic wave tool but it still feels comfortable in your pocket. The weight seems to even out once you add some of the extra tools.

The wave plus comes in two different styles, you can choose between the stainless steel/black oxide version and the stainless steel/gold combo:

Leatherman Rebar

The rebar is very similar to the wave and the wave plus. It has all of the basic tools that you’re used to with the leatherman brand (knife, pliers, screwdrivers, etc) but it has been beefed up for extra strength. This tool was specifically designed for heavy duty work. It can be used for multiple purposes (such as cutting through sheet metal or demolishing concrete).

The rebar has a solid feel to it. The components lock into place and are made out of durable materials (stainless steel, titanium, etc). This thing will last you a lifetime.

This is a more specialized tool that falls under the “nice to have but not necessary” category.

The long reach barrel makes it easier to access hard to get to places (such as when you’re climbing up through a tight hole). The extra length also makes it easier to use with one hand.

A note on the warranty: All of these tools are covered by a 25 year warranty. You can read more about it Here.

Remember: A good multitool is an essential piece of survival gear that everyone should have.

SURVIVAL KNIFE

The second most important piece of survival gear is a good knife. You use your knife for all sorts of things (cleaning game, making traps, building shelter, creating fire starters, etc).

You never know when you’re going to need a good blade and it’s best to have one handy.

The Morakniv Craftline Companion is easily the best value when it comes to survival knives.

It’s super sharp and durable. It has a comfortable grip and it’s very affordable. You can’t go wrong with this one.

SURVIVAL STOVE

The last thing you want to do is waste your precious time building a fire. It’s time consuming and it makes you vulnerable to detection.

A compact little stove like this would be a perfect piece of survival gear. Just add some tinder, sticks, pine cones, etc. and you’ll be able to cook up some delicious food.

The Ultimate Survival Technologies PakLite is the smallest wood burning stove out there. It weighs only 2.8 ounces and can fit in your palm.

It’s perfect for backpacking and camping and it’s very easy to use. All you have to do is unfold it, click in the rods, and add whatever tinder you can find.

CANDLES

I used to always carry a flashlight with me whenever I went out. This meant I had to carry extra batteries with me as well (which eventually ended up weighing a lot).

Then I learned that wax candles are actually better to have than flashlights. They’re much more cost effective, they last longer, and they’re easier to use.

You can buy a handful of wax tea lights for the same price as one set of batteries. And unlike flashlights, they’re never going to break.

If you get the bigger standing candles then they can also be used as signal mirrors to attract attention.

Something else you might want to consider are these cool flameless candles.

They look just like real candles but without the fire hazard. They come in different colors and shapes and even have a flickering LED.

Here’s The Glow Dark Flickering LED Candle on Amazon.

The flameless candles are a great replacement for flashlights if you want something safer to use around your camp. They’re nice to have around the house and they can be used as night lights too.

FIRE STARTER KITS

Starting a fire with wet or frozen wood can sometimes be a challenge.
