Leatherman is one of the most popular brands in the world. They are known for their quality products and innovative ideas. Their product range includes tools, knives, pliers, screwdrivers, saws and much more. These products have been used by professionals around the globe for years.

The company was founded in 1975 by Bob Kesey (1928–1997).

They have a very loyal following and are well respected in the industry. You can see many reviews online about them. Some of these reviews mention how they are reliable, durable and affordable.

In this review I will share my experience with Leatherman’s Kick Multi Tool. I am going to compare it against other similar products such as the Leatherman iJig, the Leatherman Craftsman and the Leatherman Impact.

What Is A Kick Pocket Clip?

A kick pocket clip is a small tool that attaches to your keychain or similar items. When you need to open something, simply push the clip into the lock and pull out. This is useful when trying to pick a locked door without damaging yourself. The main advantage of using a kick pocket clip over opening things with your hands is that you don’t risk breaking anything while picking something up with your fingers.

What To Consider When Buying A Pocket Clip

The first thing you should think about before you buy a pocket clip is what it will be used for. Some of these clips have different features and are more suitable for certain things. Think about what you are trying to pick or open to decide which one to buy. There are many different types of tools that can be used for opening locks and picking things.

The main ones I use are lock picks, bump keys, snap guns, and torque screws. For each of these there are different tools that can be used.

For opening locks and picking things you can use a variety of pocket clips. The most common types are:

Rakes: A rake is generally a small piece of metal with small teeth that is inserted into the key hole and moved back and forth. This is used to pick traditional pin tumbler locks and similar mechanisms. These are available for many types of locks and are suitable for most jobs.

Torque Screwdrivers: A torque screwdriver is a small tool with a grooved tip on one end and a handle on the other. It is used to open combination locks by applying pressure to the correct pins. There are different types of torque screwdrivers that can be used for different types of locks.

Snap Guns: A snap gun is used to quickly open a lock by snapping the internal mechanism. This works by applying a strong amount of torque to the tool to snap the internal parts of a lock. This is very fast and effective but you do need some experience to use one properly.

Bump Keys: A bump key is specially designed key that is used to open a lock. When inserted into the lock it can be gently tapped with a hammer or other heavy object. This creates a small amount of torque that is transferred to the lock, turning it in the lock. This works very quickly and quietly but takes some skill to use properly.

The Kick Pocket Clips I Recommend

After testing a wide range of pocket clips I have narrowed it down to three different options. These are my personal recommendations for the best pocket clips you can buy today.

Kick Pocket Clip by Beta-Design

The first pocket clip I want to talk about is the Kick clip by Beta-Design. This is a great pocket clip that can be used to pick traditional pin tumbler locks and more. The main body of the clip is made from stainless steel and uses small groves on the inside to grab whatever you are using to pick the lock. These groves can be retracted or extended depending on how far you push them into the clip.

This allows you to fine-tune the amount of tension used when picking a lock.
