Kobalt 47 Piece Pass Through Socket Set and Universal Socket Set
The most popular type of sockets are the pass through types. These are designed so that when a bolt or nut is tightened down, it will not affect the rest of the socket. They have been used since time immemorial, but they do require some effort to tighten them properly because there is no way to turn them with your fingers while holding onto something else.
A better type of sockets are universal ones. These allow you to tighten any part of the socket without affecting other parts. This set will cover most of your automotive needs, though you may find yourself needing a deep socket from time to time.
Other Types of Kobalt Socket Sets
These two are not the only Kobalt socket sets that you can buy. There are several other types available, each with their own unique features. Kobalt also makes a 20-piece set, a 48-piece set, and a 58-piece set. The 20-piece set is the smallest, while the 58-piece set is the largest.
Each one has different features that make them better for certain jobs.
The 20-piece set includes 6 different sockets ranging from 5/16″ to 3/4″ as well as a ratchet. It is perfect for people who only need to work on smaller parts and do not want to spend too much money.
The 48-piece set includes 4 different sockets ranging from 1/4″ to 7/8″ as well as 3 ratchets. It is perfect for people who do not own many tools already, but still need a good sized socket set for automotive work. It is also a good starter set for people who are just learning how to use sockets and ratchets.
The 58-piece set includes 6 different sockets ranging from 1/4″ to 13/16″ as well as 3 ratchets. It is perfect for people who do a lot of automotive work or who are experienced with working on their vehicles. It is also a good choice for mechanics who want a solid socket set but do not have a lot of money to spend.
Other Sizes of Kobalt Sockets

Kobalt also offers a 10-piece 3/8″ drive 6-point socket set. This set is great for when you need more torque than a standard 1/4″ drive socket can provide, but don’t want to spend quite as much money on a full 3/8″ drive socket set. This set has the following sockets: 3/8″, 7/16″, 1/2″, 9/16″, 5/8″, 11/16″, 3/4″ and 13/16″.
Kobalt also offers a set of 1/2″ and 3/8″ drive deep impact sockets. These sockets are great for working on cars, as they can provide extra reach for those hard to get to bolts. The deep socket has an extra long socket for additional clearance. This set includes the following pieces: 1/2″ drive 6-point deep impact socket (6″), and 3/8″ drive 6-point deep impact socket (7″).
However, none of these sets include every size socket you are ever going to need. Your best bet is to buy individual sockets, though this can get very expensive, very quickly. A better solution is to buy a universal socket set that has almost all of the most commonly used sockets in it. These sets sometimes contain sockets that you will never need, but they also don’t contain sockets that you will need, so you’ll still have to buy those separately.
