The first thing that comes to mind when someone hears the word “toolbelt” is probably a pair of leather work gloves. However, there are many other types of tools and accessories that could qualify as being called a tool belt.

For example, you might have one made out of canvas or even some kind of synthetic material like Kevlar.

There are several different kinds of tool belts, but they all fall into two categories: those with buckles and those without. Buckle-type tool belts typically come in three sizes: small (small), medium (medium) and large (large).

They’re usually made from heavy duty fabric such as nylon or polyester. There’s no way around it; if you want to wear a buckle-type tool belt, then you’ll need to get one that fits your body properly.

A few years ago, I was working at a local hardware store and had to buy a new set of tool belts every six months. One day while shopping for belts, I noticed that my boss was wearing a buckle-type tool belt.

At the time, I thought nothing of it since most men do these days.

A few months pass and I was trimming trees in the backyard when all of a sudden my cell phone, which I had placed in one of the small pockets on my belt, started to ring. (Yes, I know; it was extremely unsafe to have it anywhere near the chain saw but I was only going to be a minute).

It was a call from my daughter’s school so I dropped the saw, ran inside, and picked up the call.

“Hello”, I said.

“Mr. Logue, this is Mrs.

Whitmore, May’s teacher”.

“Yes”, I replied.

“I’m sorry to tell you this May had an accident and severely gashed her knee”.

How bad is it”, I asked?

“It’s pretty bad; she’s going to need stitches”.

As I hung up the phone, I thought the whole thing felt surreal. I was overwhelmed with the feeling that something bad had happened, and I couldn’t shake it.

After getting off the phone, I grabbed my car keys, locked up the house, and headed towards the school. The whole way there, I thought about how much my daughter meant to me and how much I loved her.

Upon my arrival at the school, May’s teacher guided me to the nurse’s office where May was sitting on an examination table.

“Hi Daddy” she said with tears in her eyes.

“Hi baby” I said while giving her a hug.

Whether it was due to the accident or not, I will never know, but from that day forth when I looked at my daughter I didn’t just see “May”. Instead, I saw an angel sent from heaven to make my life complete.

I love you baby.

In conclusion, whether you’re a tradesman who needs a new set of tool belts or just an average guy, I hope you will take the time out to really listen to your children in case you suddenly wake up one day and realize that you neglected to do so for the past thirty some odd years of your life.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Bob Logue

Robert is a 45 year old general contractor who has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for the past 22 years. Together they have one daughter named May.

Although he has no other children, he does work on a daily basis with his two sons-in-law who are both in the trades as well. When he’s not working on job sites or taking care of his daughter, you can find him spending time with his wife at their lake house.

Robert is the kind of guy that can talk to anyone. He has a talent for being able to communicate with just about anyone, which makes him an ideal person to do product testing.

He is always the first one to try new tools and give feedback on how to improve them.

Since the day he was born, his destiny was to be a carpenter just like his father and grandfather. He took some time off from his family’s business his first year of college, but after some thought he soon returned in order to help run it.

He has been there ever since and hopes to remain there until the day he retires.

Robert’s primary job site is his own home. He remodels and builds everything in it including, but not limited to, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, bedroom sets, and anything else you can think of.

If you need something built he’s the guy to see.

What are you working on now?

Tell me about it!

I recently finished building a new kitchen counter for my wife. It’s made out of solid oak and it has an oil finish on it.

I hand picked each piece of wood for it and made sure that they were all perfectly straight with no major knots or imperfections in them.

It’s not just a simple slab countertop either; it has a bullnose edge on the front side of it which was very hard to build due to the compound angle but I persevered and got it just the way Jennifer wanted it.
