The Coast FL60 LED Headlamp Review:
The Coast FL60 LED Headlamp Review is a compact headlamp with an impressive output of up to 600 lumens. It’s small size makes it suitable for everyday use.
The light is powered by two CR2032 coin cell batteries which are included in the package. There are three brightness levels available – low, medium and high, and there’s even a strobe mode!
The FL60 comes with a carrying pouch, a soft carry case and a micro USB cable. You’ll need to charge the battery pack before using the light again.
The FL60 LED Headlamp Review is a good choice if you’re looking for a compact headlamp that offers bright lighting at a reasonable price. It’s easy to operate and its beam pattern is very effective when used in low light conditions.
The Lighting Modes:
The FL60 has three lighting modes to choose from – low, medium and high.
The low mode is perfect for lighting up objects at a distance of up to around 20 feet (6 meters). The beam angle is 60 degrees so the light illuminates a wide area, but isn’t strong enough to light up far off objects.
The medium mode is ideal for use when you need a stronger beam to light the surrounding area. The beam angle in this mode is around 20 degrees, which means that the illuminated area is significantly larger than in low mode.
At this setting you can easily identify people at a distance of around 150 feet (45 meters).
The high mode is perfect for identifying people at long range. The beam angle is around 6 degrees which means it’s very focused.
At the highest setting you can light objects up to around 600 feet (180 meters) away.
The strobe mode can be used to disorient an attacker, or to signal for help at long range. The strobe mode is perfect when you need to grab attention, such as in an emergency.
The Coast FL60 LED Headlamp is also waterproof and can stand up to prolonged exposure to water. The headband is fully adjustable so one size fits all, and there are three different color options available (gold, black and red).
The whole package only weighs 1.6 ounces (47 grams), which means you’ll hardly notice that you’re wearing it.
Output range: 2 lumens (150 hours) – 600 lumens (30 minutes)
Light source: 1x LED bulb producing cool white light (6000K)
Charging time: 8 hours for full charge
Burn time: 150 hours (low setting) – 30 minutes (high setting)
Weight: 1.6 ounces (47 grams) without batteries
Length: 3 inches (7.5 cm)
Battery: 2x CR2032 coin cell batteries (included)
Waterproof: Yes (IPX8 standard)
The FL60 has three different light settings so you can choose from a dimmer, more power-efficient beam or a brighter, more focused beam. The headlamp is easy to operate – just a single button is all that’s necessary to switch between modes.
Very bright at 600 lumens
Three lighting modes – low, medium and high
Strobe mode can be used to disorient an attacker or to signal for help
Lightweight at 47 grams
Compact and easy to carry (3 x 7.5 cm)
Very reasonably priced
Battery life indicator tells you when batteries need replacing (flickers when less than 20% power is left)
Headband isn’t very comfortable for some wearers
The headlamp may slip down over your eyes if you make sudden head movements, but that can be corrected by tightening the band or by making a surgical skin roll to prevent slippage.
Who Is This Product For?
This is a good choice for you if you need something cheap, small and lightweight. The Lighting Modes: Low, medium and high mean that you have plenty of control over the beam angle and power of the beam. The strobe mode is also a nice feature to have in an emergency.
If you’re looking for a more comfortable headlamp or one that doesn’t slip down over your eyes, check out the Coast HL7 instead. It has a much more expensive price tag, but it’s also more comfortable and stays in place better.
What Comes With The Product?
Headlamp, two CR2032 batteries, and user manual.
Alright, That’s All Great, But How Is It Actually?
The Coast FL60 is a bit different to other similar headlamps because it has three different lighting settings rather than just a heavy and a strobe setting like many other models. The three settings mean that you can choose between something bright enough to see things clearly from a fair distance or something dimmer but which uses less power and gives you more time before you need to change the batteries.
You can use the headlamp to illuminate things at a distance (about 30 meters/100 feet) or to concentrate the beam into a tight spotlight (about 2 meters/6 feet). It’s small enough that you can easily store it in your pocket until you need it.
The flashing strobe mode is perfect for signaling for help in an emergency situation. You can also use it to scare off wild animals or attackers.
The small size of the headlamp also makes it easy to store away in your pocket or purse so you always have it with you when you need it most.
The band is a little stiff at first but loosens up after a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, it’s not the most comfortable thing in the world and some wearers complain about lightheadedness and headaches after prolonged use.
These issues can be prevented by making a surgical skin roll to prevent the headlamp from slipping and sliding around.
It’s priced very reasonably for what you get (and much cheaper than many other headlamps of this quality) and comes with two batteries so you’re ready to go as soon as you take it out of the box.
Just remember that it isn’t fully waterproof so don’t go diving with it!
The only other headlamp I can recommend in this price range is the slightly more expensive Coast HL7 which is more comfortable and stays in place a lot better. It also has three lighting modes but also comes with red LEDs for night vision preservation and a lock to keep it from turning on in your pack.
Coast FL60 vs. Coast HL7
They’re both affordable, reliable headlamps with three lighting modes but that’s about where the similarities end. The Coast FL60 is significantly less money and has enough light for most situations but doesn’t have a red LED or lockout mode.
The HL7 is more comfortable to wear and stays in place a lot better. It also has red LEDs for preserving night vision and a lock to keep it from turning on in your bag and wasting the batteries.

Coast FL60 Review
The FL60 is a basic headlamp at a great price. It’s affordable enough that you could keep one in your car, home, and office so you’re never without light when you need it most.
It does have three different lighting modes so you can adjust based on what you’re doing. A high intensity light for close up work, a lower setting for general lighting, and a strobe light to draw attention to yourself if you’re in an emergency situation.
It runs off of three AAA batteries which last fairly well but do need to be replaced fairly regularly. You should plan to replace the batteries about once a year whether they’re dead or not just to be safe.

Users love how lightweight and easy to use the FL60 is. It’s great for people who need light right away without having to learn anything new.
Just pop in some batteries and you’re all set!
A few people have mentioned that after a year or so of use the rubber button on the top of the light breaks and the light becomes difficult to turn on and off. This is a very common problem with LED lights due to the amount of pressure you need to keep them activated.
If this happens, simply return it and get a replacement (if possible).
Lastly, be careful with the plastic lens as it can become scratched easily. You may want to keep the original packaging just in case you need to return it.

Anyone who needs a backup light or something lightweight to keep in their car, office, and/or home. It’s not particularly powerful but it’s great for simple tasks like seeing what you’re doing when changing a tire at night or reading a map.
