What’s the difference between the two?
There are many different types of staplers. They come in various sizes and shapes. Some are designed to be used with wood or metal floors while others work well on concrete, tile, and other non-porous surfaces. There are even some that have a built-in blade so they don’t require any tools to use them. All of these features make it possible for the user to choose which type of stapler best suits their needs.
As you might expect, there are several brands of staplers available today. These include:
Mitsubishi – Mitsubishi is one of the largest manufacturers of flooring products in Japan. Their stapling equipment line includes a variety of models ranging from simple straight edge blades to multi-blade machines that can handle multiple materials at once. They offer a wide range of sizes and styles including single blade, double blade, and triple blade models.
These also come in manual, pneumatic, cordless, and even gas powered models.
Bostitch – This brand focuses on staplers that are designed for use with flooring materials. They have several models with a maximum reach of 2 inches to help make installing flooring easier. These can be used on hardwood, laminate, carpet, tiles, linoleum, and more.
They also have different sized staples that come in plastic and brass.
Desoutter – This company designs tools that are used in a variety of industries including construction, manufacturing, and the automotive market. They offer a full line of staplers for use with flooring materials. These include both manual and pneumatic types.
They also produce flooring staples in a wide range of sizes from narrow crown to wide crown.
The stapling process is fairly easy once you get the hang of it. The first thing you need to do is clear any excess materials away from the spot where you’ll be installing your new floor. This means sweeping up any debris and moving furniture out of the way so it doesn’t get nailed down by accident.
Next you should measure how much raw materials you’ll need for the job. This will help you calculate the size of staples you’ll need in addition to keeping you from running out part way through your project.
After this you should prep the area. This means coating the surface where your new floor will be with an even layer of glue. You can do this using a special trowel or roller designed for the job.
When working with wood or laminate this is typically enough, but for tiles you’ll also need to lightly sand the surface to provide better adhesion.
Now it’s time to start stapling. Pick up your stapler by the handle with one hand and using the other, carefully slide in the staples into the groove of one plank. Then, with even pressure, press down on the stapler with both hands and gently tap it with a hammer or another object until the staple is completely secured.
Continue this process until all the planks are installed.
Now that you know how to go about installing your own floor, you should have all the knowledge you need to get started on your next home improvement project. If you’re feeling less than confident in your abilities to do this yourself, there’s nothing wrong with hiring a professional to do this for you. In fact, some insurance companies even require that the damage from water is fixed by a licensed contractor rather than attempting it yourself.
No matter what you decide, the important thing is that your water damaged DIY project is brought up to safety standards and that you have a new beautiful floor to look at and appreciate every day!
