Bosch PS41-2A 12V Lithium-Ion Impact Driver Review
The Bosch PS41-2A lithium battery powered impact driver is a compact device which provides high power output with low weight. It is a powerful tool for both small jobs and large ones.
Its size makes it suitable for use at work sites where space constraints are a concern, but its light weight allows it to easily fit into your pocket or backpack when not in use.
It is one of the most popular tools among professionals because of its excellent performance and low price tag. However, it does have some drawbacks:
Its batteries must be charged every few months. You need to keep them fully charged so they will last longer between charges.
If you forget to charge them before leaving home, you may lose valuable time waiting for the next opportunity to use them again.
They do not come with a charger cable. You’ll need to buy one separately from Bosch’s website.
There is no way to adjust the angle of impact when using this product. That means if you want to hit something hard at an oblique angle, you’re out of luck.
(Unless you get creative)
If used incorrectly, these batteries could explode and cause severe damage to your body or property.
The impact driver’s grip is not rubberized, so it can be slippery at times.
These are just a few of the downsides to this product. For a complete list, please see the full specifications list below:
Motor: 12V max li-ion
Noise level: 88 dB(A)

Now that you know everything there is to know about the product, you can make an informed purchasing decision. As you can see from the list above, this impact driver has many positive features as well as a few minor negative ones.
No product is perfect, so it’s up to you decide whether these issues are deal breakers or not.
What is the size of the impact driver?
The Bosch PS41-2A is not a very large product. In fact, it is one of the smallest models in its class. With an ergonomic grip and a soft rubber over mold, it fits comfortably into your hand. You should have no trouble controlling it during use. The entire unit measures 7″ long and 1.5″ wide.
What type of batteries does the product use?
This impact driver uses a pair of 12V lithium-ion batteries. While these are more expensive than standard alkaline batteries, they provide much more power and will last much longer. They can be charged up to 1000 times, so you won’t need to replace them for a very long time. The charger unit is sold separately.
How long do the batteries last?
With regular use, these batteries can last anywhere between 6 to 12 months. Everyone has a different work style, so your results may vary. It’s best to keep a spare set handy at all times so you never have to worry about running out of power in the middle of a job.
Does this model come with any accessories?
The Bosch PS41-2A does not include any accessories when you buy it. You’ll need to buy a charger separately. In addition, you may want to buy an extra battery so you’ll have a backup when the first one runs out. These items can be purchased on Amazon or at your local home improvement store.
How noisy is this model?
This unit has a noise level of 88 dB(A). That’s about as loud as a lawnmower or table saw, so it’s pretty loud. Ear protection should always be worn when using this tool because prolonged exposure to loud noises can cause hearing loss.
How large is the battery charger?
The battery charger is about the size of a brick and weighs about as much. It needs to be plugged into a standard 120-volt outlet to work. Do not attempt to charge the batteries any other way, as this could result in serious injury.
Are there any safety features built into the product?
This impact driver comes with several important safety features. The first is the trigger, which only works when it’s pulled back completely. This ensures that the tool won’t turn on accidentally and helps prevent injuries. The next feature is the clutch which is designed to slip if too much pressure is applied. This can prevent over-torque situations which can permanently damage the tool as well as the workpiece or even you.
How long does it take to charge the batteries?
This all depends on how depleted the batteries are. If they are completely dead, it could take up to 20 hours. If they are only partially drained, it will take less time. Once the charging light turns green, the batteries can be used immediately but they will need to be full charged before you use them extensively.
Can I use this impact driver in my car?
This tool is not designed for use in a car. It may seem like it would be handy for that purpose, but you would need a much bigger and more expensive model designed with a specialized clutch. It also needs to be air-powered to work with modern vehicles. Keep in mind that using a power tool on a car can be dangerous as well, so follow safety precautions and never use the tool unless you know exactly what you’re doing.
If I buy this product, can I return it if I don’t like it?
You can return this item for any reason if it’s returned within 30 days and the package is still sealed.
Does this product come with a warranty?
Bosch provides a one-year warranty on this product. The warranty covers manufacturing defects but does not cover misuse or accidental damage.
Tips & Tricks
One of the main jobs for an impact driver is to drive large screws into wood. Since this is the main purpose of the tool, make sure you always use it for this purpose.
Using it for something else may subject it to unnecessary strain and stress which could shorten the life span of the tool.
